Editorial team & testing process
About Our Authors & How We Test
Sex AI Tools is an independent directory of 18+ AI apps and tools. Every review you read here is written by a real person who has personally used the platform — not spun up by an algorithm or copied from a press kit. This page explains who we are, how we test and the editorial standards that keep our rankings honest.
Who we are
We are a small team of reviewers, researchers and writers who cover adult AI for a living. Between us we have spent years testing AI companions, sexting bots, NSFW image and video generators, roleplay platforms and adult games. We started Sex AI Tools because the space was full of thin, affiliate-driven “top 10” lists that had clearly never touched the products they recommended.
Our promise is simple: we test with our own money, we say what we actually think, and we keep our commercial relationships separate from our editorial judgment. If a popular, high-paying tool is mediocre, we will say so — and if a lesser-known tool is excellent, it earns a top spot regardless of what it pays.
How we test
Our testing methodology
Every tool is scored on four core pillars — conversation, media, privacy and value — using the same hands-on process. Here is what that looks like in practice.
We pay for real subscriptions
We buy the plans our readers would buy — usually the paid tier — using our own budget, not free press accounts. That means we see the same limits, upsells and NSFW gates you do, and we can judge whether a platform is actually worth the money.
We score conversation quality
For chat and roleplay tools we run long, varied sessions to test memory, character consistency, tone control and how naturally the AI handles adult scenarios. We note where a model breaks character, repeats itself or refuses content it advertises.
We benchmark media generation
For image, video and voice generators we compare output quality, prompt control, generation speed, censorship and the amount of NSFW freedom you actually get. We use a consistent set of prompts so results are comparable across platforms.
We audit privacy and billing
We read the privacy policy, check data retention and deletion options, test how discreet billing statements are and look for any history of breaches. Tools that mishandle sensitive data lose points — or get blacklisted.
We weigh value for money
A great tool at a bad price still gets marked down. We compare pricing tiers, free allowances, hidden costs and renewal terms so our scores reflect what you really get for your subscription.
We re-check over time
AI platforms change fast. We revisit the tools we list, re-test after major updates and adjust ratings when quality, pricing or privacy practices shift. Reviews are living documents, not one-off snapshots.

Meet the team
The people behind our reviews. Each specialist owns the categories they know best.

Mia Sinclair
Lead Editor & AI Companion Analyst
Mia has been reviewing AI companion and adult AI platforms since 2022. She leads hands-on testing at Sex AI Tools, focusing on conversation quality, realism and how well each app protects user privacy. Before this she covered consumer software and dating tech for several independent publications.

Daniel Reyes
Senior Reviewer, AI Image & Video
Daniel specializes in generative AI — image, video and voice. He benchmarks NSFW generators and simulators for output quality, control and censorship, and maintains our testing rig for reproducible comparisons across platforms.

Priya Anand
Security & Privacy Researcher
Priya audits the security and privacy practices of the platforms we list. She reviews privacy policies, data retention, payment discretion and breach history, and flags tools that mishandle sensitive user data to our blacklist.
Editorial standards & disclosure
Sex AI Tools is reader-supported. Some of the links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up for a tool after clicking through. This never costs you anything extra, and — critically — it never buys a better review or a higher ranking.
No pay-for-ranking
We do not sell placements, positions or scores. A company cannot pay to appear higher on a list, to remove a competitor or to have a negative point edited out. Rankings are set by our testing team based on the methodology above, and commercial and editorial decisions are kept separate.
Affiliate disclosure
Where we have an affiliate relationship, outbound links route through our redirect so we can track referrals. You can read the full details on our Disclaimer page. Our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy explain the rest.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes, and platforms change. If you spot an inaccuracy — a price that has moved, a feature that has been removed, or a privacy claim that no longer holds — email us and we will verify and update the review promptly. Material corrections are made openly, and we re-test rather than quietly editing.
